work it

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

I love working out. I'm not a huge runner but I've been forcing myself to go on runs and it's getting better. Two miles is fine, but three, three is a struggle. I get tired and bored and I think 'why am I doing this?' But I have discovered something that's really improved the way I workout. You see, looking good = feeling good, and feeling good = productive work outs. So here are my absolute favorite work out clothes...

Also, I've found two great apps that keep me on track.

  1. NTC - Nike Training Club - a workout app made specifically for women. This thing is the best. There are set 30 & 45 minute workouts in a few different categories { get lean, get toned, get strong, get focused } and each category has different levels { beginner, intermediate, advanced }. You can set your workouts to your own music and the app talks to you as you go. If you don't know how to do something, there are example videos to show you how. The app beeps to let you know to switch to the next part of the workout, tells you to keep going/push through the pain, and counts down when you're almost done with each part. As you do workouts you get rewards for completing so many minutes, these are bonus workouts, stretches, and recipes from Nike athletes. Love this app - it's a killer.
  2. MapMyFitness - this is a running app where you can track yourself as you run. It keeps track of your route - your distance, your pace, and the calories you burn. Then you can save your routes to see your progress. This app talks to you too, it lets you know when you've reached each mile and what your pace has been. You can also play music while the app is going. At the end of each week the app emails you with your weekly progress, helps you set goals, and encourages you on your running.
