fall crush: cranberry

Friday, September 27, 2013

One thing I love about fall... fall clothes and fall colors. I am a sucker for cardigans and jackets and coats. And I really love the cranberry / mulberry / deep red that is so popular in the fall time. It's festive and warm and just looks good on everyone since there are so many shades.

Right now I'm on a shopping fast { my idea of being a good little wife and saving money } but I'm liking the idea of a cranberry colored scarf for Christmas *cough husband cough*

Also my favorite nail color for fall and winter is that beautiful deep red. It's the falls equivalent of the summer neon. And deep dark lipstick? So beautiful. It's sultry and I love it. Husband, not so much. He just isn't a huge fan of lipstick anyway.. something about being too dressy for casual everyday wear.. What do you think? Yay or nay on the dark lipstick?

happy birthday amy

Thursday, September 26, 2013

I lucked out with my family. I have awesome parents and siblings, amazing grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and the best cousins anyone could ask for.

And today is one of my closest cousin's birthdays. We've been everywhere from southern Utah to Europe together and I couldn't ask for a better travel buddy. We've shared the same love for books and movies and music since we were babies. When we were little we bought matching outfits for every holiday, cut matching haircuts, and even had matching glasses. Now that we are older we unintentionally match 50% of the time anyway. We've made everything from failed m&m cookies, and rockin' desserts, to "magic potions" and "perfumes" for as long as I can remember.

Happy Birthday Amers! Have the best day!

Doing the matching thing in the class we had together. Because we have the same major.

Family California Vacation

The best of friends. Even while being chocked out ;)

Dinner dates at Settebellos. The best pizza in Utah.

charity

This short film has been floating around Facebook and the internet for a few days now and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. It really touched me and reminded me of this quote:

"As you love His children, Heavenly Father will guide you, and angels will assist you. You will be given power to bless lives and rescue souls... To minister means to love and care for others. It means to attend to their physical  and spiritual needs. Put simply, it means to do what the Savior would do if He were here." - David L. Beck

wedding videos

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

My amazing videographer cousin Zach filmed our wedding for us and the videos are up!
I can't even express how much I love these videos, he did such a perfect job. I absolutely love being able to watch back the happiest day of my life. It's just so great :)

As promised in this post the second video's music is my siblings version of "Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - performed by Noah, on the guitar, and Emma, on guitar & singing.

But enough talk, just watch the videos.. hope you enjoy!

confessions

Monday, September 09, 2013

1.  I haven't felt like blogging in a long time. So I just haven't. Which is lame but also I don't really want to put anything up when I feel like it's a chore so I've just been waiting to see if I get any inspiration or something. Cause what's the point of blogging if you feel like you have to, or are supposed to. It's only good if you keep it as a release or a fun means of expression. So yeah. That's why I've been MIA.

2.  We attended a wedding at the Manti temple and it was gorgeous. It was the first time I'd ever been to that beautiful place. But I secretly hated the drive...

3.  I had to force Conner to take this picture. You'd think a good looking guy like that wouldn't hate pictures so much, but he does. Actually, I have to force him to take every. single. picture. we ever take, HA!

4.  We were on our way to my old roommate's wedding luncheon and it ended up being a lot scarier than it should've been... We were innocently stopped at a light off the freeway when a truck came speeding 70 mph into the car behind us - smashing them - and sending them spinning into us (my mom's mini van we were using to move). The middle car's bumper was smashed into the truck and they had to use the jaws of life to get the women in the middle car out. The two women were then taken off in the ambulance wearing neck braces. I just hope they're okay. Secretly I am now paranoid we are going to get rear-ended at every stoplight.

5.  Remember how Conner hates pictures? I had to sneak a picture of him on his first day of senior year at BYU. Then I had to take a pitiful little selfie cause nobody was there to take my first day of senior year picture...

6.  Conner had to shave to renew his beard card (yeah, you have to have a beard card to have facial hair at BYU) and I may or may not have cried a little bit. That beard, the one I begged him not to grow.. well, I might have become just a little attached. I hardly even recognized him clean shaven. Secretly I'm ecstatic to see it grow back.

7.  We left pretty soon after it started pouring and flooding in the stadium at our first home game. Secretly I was not sad to leave at all even though everyone else in the stadium was chanting things like "we won't leave" and "BYU" and "rain rain go away"... I was cold, so yeah, I'm glad we left.

elephant hooks

Saturday, September 07, 2013

So we made another thing off of Pinterest!
It sorta gives you this accomplished feeling when you actually make things you pin :)

Here's the pin we got the inspiration from:

And here's a few photos of our take:

Step 1: we taped around the edges of our wood board

Step 2: we painted the board and spray paint our animals (we sawed them in half first)

Step three: we screwed the elephants onto our board

The finished product:
