tying the knot: the venue

Friday, March 15, 2013

Your venue is what really carries the theme of your wedding on your big day. Your guests first impression of your wedding (besides the invitation they get in the mail) will be when they arrive at your venue. What is the theme you going for? What is the style of your wedding? Not only is it important to consider your budget when you're venue shopping, but consider how your dress, your colors, and your vision for the day will be carried out in your venue. Here are some different options fiancé and I considered in the beginnings of our wedding planning.

For a charming & rustic themed wedding:

We considered having a barn or lodge reception because we really liked the look of the wood details alongside all the pretty lighting. We also loved the intimate and cozy feeling that came with this style of venue.

For a classic, traditional garden wedding:

We liked the idea of an outdoor reception since we are getting married in June. It's such a simple but darling setting for warm weather weddings, and is a little more traditional & timeless than the more trendy, 'country-chic' barn venue.

For an elegant & modern wedding:

We both loved the idea of having a reception in a warehouse or museum for a more streamlined and unique feel. Instead of using traditional floral decor, these venues offer a modern feel that comes from their interesting architecture.

Our Venues:
So what did we actually choose?

Being Mormon, fiancĂ© and I are getting married in the Salt Lake Temple. With our ceremony all taken care of, we only had to find a venue for our luncheon and our reception.
I'm so excited to show you our two venues and share other wedding details as the big day gets closer... you'll just have to keep reading the blog to find out & I know you'll all be on the edge of your seats ;)
I can't believe there's only 78 days to go!
