tying the knot: the bridal party

Friday, March 08, 2013

When it comes to the bridal party it can be a bit tricky. If you're anything like me, you have a lot of siblings, a lot of close cousins, and a lot of close friends from so many moves around the country. So who do you have in the bridal party? Just my cousins alone would make 5, then add friends... I've been told 20 people is too many. So fiancé and I are sticking with just siblings, which will be really fun and intimate. After choosing our key people the next big thing to think about were their outfits. Do you have everyone match? Does it look too informal to have everyone in something different?

For the girls: I just really didn't want to make my sisters & sisters-to-be wear something they hated. I figured, if I'm going to make them but a new dress, it might as well be something they like and want to wear again. So I gave everyone some color options {see my tip for sharing colors here} and set them free to pick their own dresses. I think it's going to turn out really cute, but I guess we'll have to wait for the wedding to find out!

For the boys: I like the idea of the boys all wearing the same color pants so they still look uniform, but like the girls, I want them to like the ties I'm having them wear. So they get to pick their own ties in the color options I gave them. And of course the little ones will be wearing bow ties that I'll be making with my mom - I'll have to do a post about that when it happens.

So what would you do? Traditional matching outfits? Different dresses all the same color? Miss-matching or even mixed patterns all within your color palette? Here is some inspiration I've been collecting from different weddings on the world wide web - all found on pinterest... of course...

  2. For the awards ceremony everyone gathered in the hall next door. My fellow attendees and I were fortunate enough to sit in the front row.
